Stuck on something in Sympli Health Logger (Sympli for short), or found a bug? The answers below cover the usual questions. If yours isn’t there, email me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Contact

Email [email protected]. For a bug, it helps to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, the Sympli version (Settings > About) and what you did right before it went wrong. Please don’t put health details or photos in the email. A description of the problem is enough.

Common questions

How do I move my journal to a new iPhone?

Use iCloud. On your old phone, open Settings in Sympli and turn on “Sync with iCloud”, then give it a few minutes to finish. On the new phone, install Sympli and sign in with the same Apple ID. During setup you’ll see “Restore from or sync with iCloud”. Turn that on and your entries, profiles and photos will come over. Both phones need to be signed in to iCloud.

Is my journal backed up?

Not unless you turn on iCloud sync. By default your entries stay on your phone, so losing the phone or deleting the app would lose them, apart from whatever your regular iPhone backup holds. Turning on “Sync with iCloud” in Settings keeps a copy in your private iCloud.

My entries aren’t showing up on my other device

Start with Settings > iCloud in Sympli, which shows the sync status. Check that sync is on for both devices, that both are signed in to the same Apple ID and that you’re online. If your iCloud storage is full, syncing stops until you free up space. You can also tap “Refresh from iCloud” to nudge it along. If the status says to change something in iOS, the “Open iOS Settings” button takes you there.

How do I share a record with the doctor?

Go to the History tab and filter down to the person, dates and entry types you want, then tap Export. You can tweak which entries are included with “Choose entries…”, then pick PDF or CSV. The PDF can include your photos (they make the file bigger) and some blank space for notes. When it’s ready, share it from the share sheet by email, AirDrop, Messages or Files.

How do I log for my kids?

In Settings, open Family members and add a person. Each entry belongs to one profile, so you can look back at each child on their own, and History lets you filter by person.

How do I delete my data?

In Settings, “Delete Account & Data” permanently erases your entries, profiles, photos, settings, exported files and your iCloud copy from your phone and iCloud, then signs you out. It can’t be undone. If you only want to remove the iCloud copy and keep what’s on your phone, turn sync off first, then use “Delete iCloud data”. You can also remove Sympli from iOS Settings > your name > Sign in with Apple. The privacy policy has the full picture.

It says “This device has data for another account”

The journal on this phone was created under a different Apple ID than the one you just signed in with, and Sympli keeps it hidden so one person’s data isn’t shown to another. Sign in with the original Apple ID to get back to it. If you don’t need that data, choose “Erase this data and start fresh”, which permanently deletes it from the phone.

My reminders aren’t showing up

Check that “Remind me to log” is on in Settings. If Sympli says notifications are turned off, open iOS Settings > Notifications > Sympli and allow them. Reminders are scheduled on your phone, so they don’t need an internet connection.

Does Sympli Health Logger give medical advice?

No. It’s for keeping records, and it doesn’t diagnose anything or say what to do about it. If you’re worried about your health or your child’s, talk to a doctor, or call your local emergency number if it’s urgent.
