Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 30, 2026  ·  Last updated: October 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes what information the Sympli Health Logger application (“Sympli”) stores, where that information may be transmitted, and the controls available to you. In short: your health journal is kept on your device, and the developer operates no server that receives it.

1. Introduction and Definitions

This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) applies to the Sympli Health Logger application for iPhone (“Sympli,” or the “App”) and to this website (the “Site”). The App is published by Alejandro Landaverde (the “Developer,” “we,” “us” or “our”). By downloading or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read this Policy.

As used in this Policy, “you” means the person using the App, and “Journal Data” means the information you enter into the App, as described in Section 2.

2. Information Stored by the App

2.1 Information you provide

The App stores only information that you choose to enter. This consists of:

  • Journal entries: the date and time; the entry type (symptom, weight or mood); symptoms; body parts; severity; temperature; weight; mood; notes; and any custom symptoms, body parts or moods that you create.
  • Profiles: a name, an optional date of birth and a display color for you and for each family member or child for whom you create a profile.
  • Photographs that you attach to an entry, taken with the camera or selected from your photo library.
  • Preferences: settings such as units of measurement, appearance and reminders.

2.2 Sign in with Apple

The App uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. Upon sign-in, Apple provides the App with a user identifier, which the App stores in the iOS Keychain on your device so that you remain signed in. On first sign-in, Apple may also provide the name associated with your Apple ID, which the App uses to populate your profile. The App does not request your email address. A one-way (SHA-256) hash of the identifier is stored with your profile so that the App can determine whose data is present on the device. The identifier itself is not stored in your profile or transmitted to iCloud; however, if iCloud sync is enabled, the hash is included in the profile record copied to your private iCloud database (see Section 3.2).

3. Storage and Transmission of Information

3.1 Local storage

Unless you enable iCloud sync, Journal Data remains solely on your device. The App does not connect to any server operated by the Developer, and the Developer has no ability to access, view or retrieve Journal Data.

3.2 iCloud sync (optional)

iCloud sync is disabled by default. You may enable it in Settings, or accept it during initial setup in order to restore your journal on a new device. When enabled, your entries, profiles (including the one-way hash described in Section 2.2) and photographs are copied to your private iCloud database, where they are available on other devices signed in to the same Apple ID. That copy is stored and protected by Apple and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy; it also counts toward your iCloud storage allowance. The Developer has no access to it. You may disable sync at any time and delete the iCloud copy from within the App.

3.3 Exports

The App can generate a PDF or CSV report from entries you select. The file is created on your device, and you determine where it is sent (for example, Mail, Messages, AirDrop or Files). Once you share an exported file, it is held by the recipient and the service you used, and is not governed by this Policy. The App deletes its own temporary copies of exported files when you delete your data.

3.4 Camera and photo library

The App requests access to the camera or photo library only when you elect to attach a photograph. The photograph is saved with the relevant entry and is not used for any other purpose. You may revoke this access at any time in iOS Settings.

3.5 Reminders

If you enable a reminder, the App schedules a local notification through iOS. Reminders are generated entirely on your device. No information is sent to any notification server.

4. Advertising, Tracking and Analytics

The App contains no advertising and no analytics, and it does not incorporate third-party code that collects information about you. The Developer does not sell your information and does not share it with advertisers or data brokers. The App does not track you across other applications or websites.

If you have enabled “Share With App Developers” in iOS, Apple may provide the Developer with anonymous crash and usage reports. These reports do not include Journal Data.

5. Your Choices and Rights

You control your information through the following means:

  • Edit or delete: you may edit or delete any entry or profile at any time.
  • iCloud: Settings > iCloud allows you to enable or disable sync. “Delete iCloud data” removes the copy held in iCloud and retains the data on your device.
  • Delete account and data: Settings > “Delete Account & Data” permanently erases your entries, profiles, photographs, settings, exported files and iCloud copy, and then signs you out. This action cannot be undone.
  • Sign in with Apple: to discontinue use of Sign in with Apple with the App, open iOS Settings, select your name, then Sign in with Apple, and remove Sympli.
  • Deleting the App: removing the App from your device deletes the data on that device but does not delete any iCloud copy. To remove the iCloud copy, use “Delete Account & Data” before deleting the App.

Because the Developer does not hold your Journal Data, the Developer cannot retrieve, correct or delete it on your behalf; the controls above are the means by which you exercise those choices. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have statutory rights regarding your personal information, such as rights of access and deletion. The in-App controls are intended to satisfy those rights. If you have questions about them, please contact us using the details in Section 12.

6. Retention

The Developer does not retain Journal Data. Journal Data remains on your device, and in your iCloud account if sync is enabled, until you delete it.

7. Security

Journal Data is stored in the App’s storage on your device and is protected by your device passcode and iOS data protection. The Sign in with Apple identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain. Any person who can unlock your device can open the App. You are responsible for safeguarding your device passcode and Apple ID credentials. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and the Developer cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children and Family Profiles

The App is intended for use by adults, including parents and guardians who wish to keep records on behalf of a child. You may create a profile for a child and log entries on that child’s behalf. The Developer does not collect personal information from any user, including children. A child’s entries are accessible only to a person with access to your device or iCloud account, and may be deleted at any time by deleting the profile.

9. Not Medical Advice

The App is a record-keeping tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and is not a substitute for professional judgment. If you have concerns about your health or the health of your child, consult a qualified healthcare provider. In an emergency, contact your local emergency number.

10. This Website

The Site does not use cookies, analytics or advertising. The Site is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process technical information, such as your IP address, when serving pages; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details. If you email the Developer, your email address and message will be received and used solely to respond to you.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, note the change in the App’s release notes. The version published on this page is the current version. Your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acknowledgment of the revised Policy.

12. Contact

Questions regarding this Policy may be directed to [email protected].
